The first of anything

My first Icon for my first podcast episode

Here I sit before a screen with tons of content to repurpose and no clue where to begin. The discomfort is familiar and yet I hesitate, procrastinate and distract myself from the process of doing. I know I want to begin the story and let you in on the journey but who I was when I began is not who currently sits here with fingers tracing the raised edges of these keys.

As with anything, after a certain span of stoning, there’s nothing left to it but to do it so here goes... The first post I ever created with intention was on Instagram back in July of 2017. I’d finally decided I wanted to own my own business (what I would do exactly was still beyond my grasp) and I wanted to do it from the safety of my home. I didn’t want to sell anything (Id failed at several MLMs) and I wasn’t sure what I could teach. I’d been hooked on the aggressive vocal stylings of GaryVee and when he said audio, I thought, “Sure, why not! No big risk there. I could record my thoughts on Facebook and leave it there and if there were no objections, I could do it again.”

Back then, Facebook had a Live Audio function where we could record live and leave it for the world to see. My personal Facebook was too public for me so I created a Business page and left my thoughts there. That endeavor was my very first “FIRST” It was short (I didnt have a plan) and I’m still not sure if it made sense but I got it out of the way. It was done. It was live, there was no editing required or allowed and when I hit publish, the first audio was complete. Who knew that this would be the beginning of what is now the NightOwl Podcast.
